While using the Mac App Store on your Mac machine, many issues may encounter. If you face any issue related to the Mac App Store, match the symptoms and try to resolve the issue by yourself.


Below possible symptoms and resolutions are explained;

If a purchased app does not open on the another Mac devices after being copied from the another Mac

Apply this step on the other Mac where you copied the app, not purchased:

  1. Delete the app.
  2. Browse the Mac App Store.
  3. Log into the Mac App Store with the same account ID and password with which you purchased the app on the previous machine.
  4. Choose the Purchases view from the top of the Mac App Store window.
  5. Locate the app and click on the Install button next to it.
  6. The app will be installed on the Mac you are currently using.

If you could not find an app you purchased from the App Store

The app that you purchase from App Store has an icon added to your Dock and this icon gets installed in the Applications folder. To locate it:

  1. Open the Finder.
  2. Go to the Go menu and select Applications from there.
  3. Now locate your app in the Applications folder.

If you have removed the Mac App Store application after installing Mac OS X v10.6.6 Combo Software Update

First, make sure that you haven’t simply removed the App Store icon from your Dock:

  1. Open the Finder.
  2. Go to the Go menu and select Applications from there.
  3. Now locate your app in the Applications folder

If you can’t find the app, verify that it isn’t in your Trash.  Click on the Trash icon on your Dock and search for the Mac App Store in the Trash contents. If you find it listed there in the Trash contents, follow the steps written under Step 1 in the same article. In case your mind got changed to return the App Store to your Applications folder, restore it.


If you have successfully removed the Mac App Store from your computer, go to the AppleCare Support Downloads to download Mac OS X v10.6.6 Combo Software Update package. Double click on the file that downloads to run the Software Update. It’ll replace the Mac App Store in the Applications folder and in your Dock.

If nothing happens when you click Buy for purchasing an app

At the top of the Mac App Store window, choose the Purchases view and look for your purchased app. If it is catalogued under Purchases and says Installed next to it, search your Dock or Applications folder for the app. Click on the Install button if the app’s listing under Purchases says Install next to it. It will download and install the app in the Applications folder. You don’t have to pay for the app again.

In case if you could not find the app listed under Purchases, it means your last attempt was not executed successfully to purchase the app and you have not paid for the app. In such case, navigate the folder where you tried to purchase the app earlier and make an attempt to purchase the app by clicking on the Buy button of the app. Now you’ll be charged for the app. You can also delete the app and try to re-install it later. Once you have paid for the app and deleted the app, then try to reinstall it without being charged again use the Purchases view to reinstall it.

If downloading process gets interrupted

If the downloading process is interrupted because of the bad Internet connection, your purchased downloads should automatically restart at the point when your Internet connection is reestablished. While getting restart again and before restarting, the Mac App Store may alert you that there was a problem with the download and ask you would you’d like to restart the download(s). Verify the process to restart all pending downloads.

The download time depends on the file’s size and the speed of your Internet connection.
